It took years to earn the trust of our local community of balloon pilots.
Years.
Pilots of all creeds are rightfully apprehensive about the public availability and possible misuse of drones. Especially at an event with so many aircraft and spectators, this issue has been at front and center for some time.
Every aspect of our operation was conducted in accordance with FAA regulation.
DRONE OPERATIONS
Conduct safe UAS (drone) operations,
in close proximity to hundreds of aircraft and thousands of people.
Try not to happy dance while the world is watching.
Challenge Accepted.

This work is, by far, the most exhilarating professional experience possible.
Both thrilling and terrifying.

The first time drone operations have been allowed to be conducted at the
Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.
